From 48 to 33
We started with 48 pallets Friday, but thanks to the aid of temp workers, we cleared fifteen pallets that day! And on Saturday morning, I was pleased to see that we'd been bumped back to our previous workstation. When I left that day, we cleared several more, and we down to twenty-something pallets. Still a whole lot to go through, but assuming the temps worked today as well (I don't work Sundays), we should be under twenty.
I won't know for sure until I come in to work tomorrow, but I am hoping the temps are dismissed by then.
As an autistic introvert, I get overwhelmed by being surrounded by unfamiliar people, especially if they're talkative. And these temps could talk you to death. I was so mentally drained by the end of that first day, and beyond grumpy when I came home. Saturday was better, but not by much. I would've been pissed if we hadn't gotten so much work done.
On top of being loud, some of them were not very neat. Some dropped trash on the floor or left full trash bins for someone else to clear out. I noticed the ones working on the floor were the tidiest, and even took care of their cardboard. But as tempting as it would be to have them stick around, I'd rather they all be gone so I have some semblance of peace and order.
The only downside to being left with too much stock to sort through is that my usual coworkers aren't a very efficient bunch. They're either goofing off or distracted by their phones, and had to be reminded several times by our store manager to focus. I expect another relapse if they don't get their act together, but I'm hoping for a slow down period after the holidays. Not that I intend to be here by January...I wanna dodge inventory if possible.
I'll post an update tomorrow, after assessing the damage.
