No More Pallets, No More Temps
We did it!! A few temps returned yesterday, when we had less than twenty pallets left. When I came in this morning, we had less than ten. And by the time I left for the day, we'd broken down the rest.
Now we just gotta keep more pallets from piling up on us...I'd hate to have a repeat of the last few months. It was incredibly stressful and overcrowded, but our current setup should hopefully be easier on everyone.
And after a weeks, the scheduling app is functional! I hated having to hound my manager about my schedule, something else I don't miss from the dark days of paper scheduling.
Oh, and there was some drama at work. Management decided to pressure the cashiers if they accidentally sell customers mismatched shoe sizes.
- First strike: A verbal warning.
- Second strike: They get written up.
- Third strike: ...termination.
Sounds pretty harsh, huh? Makes me glad I'm not in their shoes, but damn...this is how you know your job is hard up for money. But I don't feel safe, even though I'm back of the house. I got too comfortable once, only to get caught up in a mass layoff at Walmart.
But that's everything for now.
I'm all caught up on my final exams, so I'm able to focus more on my writing and editing until the new semester. And I intend to make good use of my time.
