Smell You Later!

This month has been...rough. For the country, less so for me directly. I have been enjoying my time being unemployed, but I will have to find a job soon.

Problem is, I'm undergoing surgery near the middle of the month. Nothing major; I'm just getting a septoplasty and turbinate reduction. I have a severely deviated septum, which makes my allergies a pain to deal with, due to all the inflammation and congestion. And I almost had to cancel because my insurance was going to expire. Thankfully, I got that fixed and get to keep my appointment. I just wish it was sooner rather than later...I'm anxious to get this over with.

Getting it done in spring is preferable to summer or later, as my allergies are just awful from summer until winter. All the pollen and mold...Full recovery takes over a year, but I'll be able to work out after a month or so (crying already), and I should be able to work before then? The aftercare is what I'm most worried about.

I figured now was a good time to give this little update, especially after my 24 hour stomach virus. I woke up at 2 AM yesterday, with awful cramps that persisted well into evening. I tried a mix of Pepto, slippery elm, Tums, and heat to combat it. And last night I managed to sleep without issue! I am feeling a lot better, but forcing myself to take it easy, which means no work out. Boo.

I also have a doctor's appointment (physical) this week, so I can raise the issue with my GP. Might also ask for a referral to a dietitian while I'm there. I'm mostly happy with my body, but want to tackle what foods are best for me, and which to avoid or lessen. I have a pretty good idea now, but could use a nudge in the right direction. Especially now that I have abs and kinda want to show them off more (as if).

This post comes as I am hitting a roadblock with a WIP I recently started, and may need a break from. While I am proud of myself for writing 15k in under two weeks, I am kinda drained and have been pushing myself to do more. I'll probably set this WIP aside next month to focus on editing my cybernoir book. And maybe draft more chapters for Last Train Home, depending on how I'm feeling.

But that's a problem for future me. Current me is going to focus on processing the mess that was the latest episode of Yellowjackets (a show I also binged in two weeks...hmm), and recovering from my illness. I recently started reading On A Leash again, so that's something.

Expect another post from me after my surgery. I'm sure that'll be a hoot!
