The Joys of Slow Reading

I'm sure there is a "better" term for this, but I like my take on it, since I am a slow reader. And gotta say, I'm loving it.

Sure, it takes me longer to finish a book, and I can't multitask (such as playing puzzle games or chores), but that's also why I love it? It keeps me focused and engaged, and I'm finding that I am falling in love with reading again. It's weird. This is partly why I love visual novels as well, and can take a month or two to finish them (depending on length, anyway).

Audiobooks were also highly convenient when I set lofty reading goals, which I have scaled back on this year. Fifty books is still a lot, but I think I'll be fine. It's not like every book I plan on reading this year will be a chunky Stephen King tome. I already have a good head start for this year, so the real test will be keeping up momentum as the year comes to a close.

I've allocated reading times to lunch breaks at work and before bed on those same days, but read more on the weekends. I'm still reading Insomnia, but I am actually enjoying it a lot now, so maybe I'll finish it within two weeks. Currently reading a chapter or two a day, but hoping to accelerate that as interest builds. I might even buy it when my library loan expires. We'll see.
