Today Was A Good Day
After having a few rough interactions online (nothing serious, but I'm prone to ruminating), it was nice to wake up to some truly good news this morning. And that was the approval of my passport! Unfortunately, I only applied for one because I needed an escape plan after Kamala lost the election. There are too many parallels to Nazi Germany right now, and I want to get out before they start sending queer people and other undesirables to the gas chambers.
My aunt plans to immigrate to Canada, and has offered to sponsor me and my partner when we're ready to make the move. Her partner and several of her kids are trans and queer, and she's worried about their safety, along with mine. I hate the idea of having to flee the country, but I'd rather be alive and thriving elsewhere than wallowing in this hellscape.
In terms of other good news, my job pays us for Christmas, which is a nice eight hour perk. We're closed that day, so everyone benefits. Most of my jobs didn't offer that incentive at all, so it's really nice! I can put that money towards something good.
And that's basically all the good news I had for today. Getting that passport approved (in two weeks, no less!) was the highlight of my day. I was worried it would be denied or delayed because I opted for the X gender marker, which I don't have on my state ID. Success!
